A Devil's Tail

The final chapter in Simon Wolf's trilogy finds Asia joined by a giant wolf, a magical wizard and her cowardly agent as they face an enemy of unimaginable cunning and strength. Deep within his frozen lair they journey, to battle hideous monsters and sensual sirens - a mystical place where eroticism breathes an aroma of sensuality and the Elders decide when mortality ends and immortality shall begin.

Luminaries from the adult community occasionally guest-review tapes for AVN. Critiquing A Devil's Tail is award-winning performer and director Jonathan Morgan. - Ed.

My eyes lit up when I found out that I would be reviewing a movie directed by a man I highly respect, not only for the fact that he has directed some of the most beautiful women in adult history, but he has also married two of them - Hyapatia Lee and Asia Carrera. So with pen and paper in hand I hit the play button on my VCR remote and began to review Bud Lee's A Devil's Tail.

The movie opens with Carrera, playing a novelist, feverishly typing out a sex scene that turns into Dale DaBone and Ava Vincent in a hot and heavy cowboy saves cowgirl scene, ending with Vincent's face full of DaBone's ball butter. Unfortunately it's at this point that the story of the movie confused me more than any of Jon Dough's AVN Awards acceptance speeches.

A wizard named James, who happens to be doing the worst Sean Connery impression ever known to man, visits Carrera's character and tells her of the power of the wolf that she can wield and to be on guard, for evil is around. The movie moves along with help not only from the screenwriter, but also my fast forward button as we find out that evil comes in the form of a man named Sebastian, played by Steven St. Croix. Hats off to St Croix for pulling out a great performance while playing such a one-dimensional character.

At this point the movie becomes a cross between Highlander and Star Wars, in that it's a battle between good and evil for the ultimate prize... Carrera. With special effects flying around, which happen to be some of the best I have ever seen in the adult business, Carrera destroys evil after finding the power within her (You could almost hear the voices saying... Use the Force, Asia!).

In my 10-plus years in the adult business, I have jerked off to many of Lee's movies. And in my opinion, what Bud Lee is to directing, Mark McGwire is to baseball. Both guys hit a lot of home runs. But on this night there will be no joy in Mudville, for the mighty Bud Lee has struck out.
