Anybody who's been watching the XXX scene for a while knows one thing about reviewer-turned-director David Aaron Clark: He likes Asian women. Fortunately, it's a fetish that's served him well in the adult business, with Asia Noir as his (so far) crowning achievement.
Perhaps, first, a short caveat is in order: Despite its placement in our wall-to-wall section, Asia Noir is also something of a specialty title, since the gals are all of (at least partly) Asian ancestry and the guys all of (at least partly) African ancestry. What's pretty clear, however, is that good feature-making, hot sex and interesting scenarios transcend all ethnicities; it's just a matter of the skill of the director — and Clark has that in buckets-full.
Take, for instance, one of the feature's earliest shots: A "statue" of Nyomi Marcella, elegantly adorned in pink feather boa, stockings and angel wings, in a glass display case, which Mr. Marcus approaches, opens and begins touching all over. It's when he tweaks her erect nipples, however, that there's the first glimmer of reaction — and all of it, from Marcella's initial coldness to her awakening sensuality — is lovingly captured by Clark's camera.
What follows seems to draw heavily on Clark's experiences in the B/D world. Marcus leads her on a chain leash down the stairs to one of the house's several living rooms where the pair engage in a slow, tentative kiss after which Marcella begins to suck on Marcus' rod. But why does Clark record that single tear that slides down Nyomi's cheek as she's performing the fellatio? Is it a subtle message? And why does a similar "tear" appear beside Nyomi's pussy lips as Marcus is fucking her horsie style in front of the mirror? We almost wish Clark had provided an audio commentary as one of the extras — if for no other reason than to explain the out-of-context yawps that resonate during several of the scenes. A tribute to Walt Whitman? Who knows? Artists don't have to explain their references, especially if, in context, they work as well as these.
The scene appears to conclude with some piledriver and mish on the piano bench, an embrace (during which the image turns black-and-white)... and Marcus developing vampire fangs and biting Nyomi on the neck...after which Marcus wakes up to see Lucy Lee playing pool. Marcus "checks her out" by grabbing her tit and bumping her butt, but she's obviously into the game as well, rubbing her pussy with the pool cue.
The pair engage in horsie over the table and reverse cowgirl on the couch, but then the scene cuts abruptly to a car containing Kelana and Guy DiSilva driving up to the house, and in short order, the couple has joined Marcus and Lee in the pool room for horsie and mish...and a squirt from Lee.
While all the sex here is well worth watching, one other scene particularly stands out. It features Kimmie Kahn in cat makeup crawling up to Darren James and licking cream from a bowl at his feet. James pets her head, pours lube on her ass and proceeds to fuck same doggie-style. After some A2M, she opens her butt to him side-saddle and in mish; then it's back to the b.j., some regular mish...and a cumshot to Kimmie's cream bowl, which she picks up and drinks, the white liquid splashing all over her tits. It's a scene worthy of a double "Yowzah!"
One technical note: We're familiar with the house where this feature was shot, and its acoustics are terrible; people talking two floors and several rooms away from the camera can usually still be heard by the microphone — except in this instance, where the soundtrack is ultra-clean throughout, though some noise has probably been masked by the occasional music track.
In sum, Asia Noir deserves a Best Video nom; its creator a shot at Best Director; the Kahn/James scene a nod for Best Couples Scene, and Kelana a shot at Best New Starlet. For fans of Asian women, there's nothing not to like here.
